The 2018 Bennington Empty Bowls was a wildly successful event. Held on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Mount Anthony Union Middle School, this year’s event attracted more than 500 participants and raised over half of our food budget for the coming year. Empty Bowls is such a good example of the community coming together to support families in need. This year’s attendees were able to enjoy 40 different soups and numerous gorgeous artisan breads that were donated by local restaurants , chefs and bakeries. Taking time to sip soup and break bread together is one small way in which we can lift up our understanding of the fact that not everyone has enough food to eat or enough healthy food to eat in our culture.
All proceeds from the 2018 Bennington Empty Bowls will benefit the Kitchen Cupboard, the GBICS’ food distribution program, which served more than one in every four local families in 2017. Thanks to all who participated and donated to Empty Bowls. Special thanks go to the Bank of Bennington, Community Bank, and the VSECU for their generous financial support.
