Volunteer in Bennington with GBCS

Volunteers are the life-blood of our community. In fact, they make everything we do here at GBCS possible. We have a place for everyone here – from recent retirees to local high school students. Our volunteer opportunities range from highly skilled doctors and nurses to local residents picking up food donations. Because we host a wide range of programs, we need people with a wide range of skills to volunteer with us in Bennington.

We take pride in our work and enjoy offering our services to the community. As a result, we’ve created an environment that feels like home. Our volunteers are a part of the GBCS family! Are you interested in volunteering in Bennington? If so, we’d love to talk to you about your interest.

Volunteer in Bennington: Current Available Opportunities

We are always accepting volunteers for the Kitchen Cupboard, Food Fit, and Free Clinic programs. Of course these positions include nurses and doctors, but we also need folks to enter data, stock shelves, and greet guests. Additionally, sometimes there are volunteer opportunities with our other programs. Check below or contact us for current openings.

GBCS (pronounced jee-bix) is a community-based, non-profit organization. We work with people who live in or near poverty in Bennington County, Vermont. Our mission is to help people in Bennington County, Vermont experiencing financial crises meet their basic needs for food, shelter, and access to health care. In other words, our programs aim to improve the health and well-being of Bennington area residents.

The GBCS team understands that living in or near poverty affects your health. That’s why we’re here to help! Because we embrace a philosophy of radical hospitality, we welcome you as a member of our beloved community. We strive to meet you where you are. Together we can identify where you are and where you want to be. We encourage you to bring what you can to the table. In this way, we aim to help you get to a better place. 

At GBCS, we pride ourselves on the diversity of people we see. Our waiting rooms are known locally as “the United Nations” of Bennington. We provide services regardless of race, color, national origin, age, ability, sex, gender identity, religion, or political beliefs. 2017 was an exciting year for GBICS. Since moving operation into our new home at 121 Depot Street one year ago, we’ve expanded food distribution hours renovated the building.
